Everything the dual subtitles extension can do

InterSub works on YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, Crunchyroll, Bilibili.tv and Shahid, on TED talks, and on course platforms: Coursera, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, Domestika, DW Learn German and Learn.cantrill.io. Netflix dual subtitles and YouTube dual subtitles work the same way, and on Crunchyroll and Bilibili.tv you can learn Japanese with anime.

The extension works in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. A Safari version, including mobile, is coming soon.

Choose dual or single subtitles. Hover over an unfamiliar word, or double-click it or select a phrase if you prefer, and the video pauses: a pop-up dictionary shows the translation and what it means in this context. The word goes to your Wordbook for review.

No subtitles in your language? InterSub can translate subtitles with AI on the fly: it takes the original line and shows the translation as the second one, so you always see both.

Sometimes the platform does have subtitles in your language, but they follow the dub, which is often a loose literary version of what is said. Turn on forced AI translation, and InterSub ignores that track and translates the original line by line instead. On Crunchyroll this gives you Crunchyroll AI subtitles for any anime.

Select a word or phrase on any page, or double-click a word, and a pop-up shows its translation together with the context. It is an instant translator for articles, Reddit threads and docs, and a YouTube translator extension for comments and video descriptions. Words you save keep a link to the page they came from. Works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

Turn on «Show subtitles only on pause» and watch without subtitles, the way native speakers do. Missed something? Pause: the current line and the one before it appear, ready to translate. It trains your listening and works with Remote Control too.

Watching Netflix on a TV or a big monitor? Scan the QR code on the video with your phone and open Remote Control in its browser. Pause and rewind, read the current subtitle and translate any word in it without getting up.

Every word you look up is saved to your Wordbook with its translation and the line it came from. Words from websites keep a link to the page. Search and filter the list and see which words you check most often, so you know what to learn first. It is a vocabulary builder that fills itself while you watch.

Click the Magic button next to a translation to open a chat with AI Language Buddy. Ask what a word means in this scene, how to use it, which synonyms fit or how the grammar works, or type your own question. It runs on ChatGPT, so it can translate meaning, not just words. Save a dictionary-style definition from the chat straight to your Wordbook.

Sync your saved words with Anki, desktop or mobile, in one click, or train them in our Telegram bot. The bot explains each word, asks you to write your own examples and checks them with an AI tutor, then moves the word into spaced repetition. You can answer by voice.

To connect the bot, scan the QR code in your Personal Profile; syncing your whole Wordbook needs a paid plan. Using another app? Export your words as an Excel file.

In full screen, after 5 seconds without mouse movement, any move of the cursor pauses the video, so you can reach a word before the line is gone. Click the player or press Space to continue. You can turn auto-pause off in Settings.

When people speak fast, press Space to pause and read the line: most platforms use it for play and pause. Missed a line? Use ← and → or the arrows next to the subtitles to jump back or forward.
